1. Acceptance of Terms
By downloading, installing, accessing, or using PeerSplit (the "App") or accessing peerloomlabs.com (the "Website"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the App or Website.
2. Description of Service & Serverless Nature
PeerSplit is a peer-to-peer personal expense management utility. The App operates in a serverless, local-first architecture:
- Peerloom Labs does not operate central account servers or store user financial databases.
- Expense calculations, cryptographic keys, and history logs reside primarily on your local device storage.
- Inter-device communication is conducted over independent, public Nostr relays utilizing end-to-end encryption.
3. Not a Financial Institution or Payment Custodian
PeerSplit is an accounting and calculation tool, not a bank, payment processor, money transmitter, or escrow custodian.
PeerSplit does not hold, transmit, receive, or intermediate funds. Settlements recorded in the App are digital book entries and do not represent verified bank transfers. When utilizing UPI handoffs, financial transactions are executed exclusively within your external payment applications (e.g. Google Pay, PhonePe, Paytm). You are solely responsible for verifying the accuracy of payment details before sending funds.
4. Cryptographic Keys & Backup Responsibility
Because PeerSplit uses decentralized cryptography rather than centralized email/password accounts:
- You are solely responsible for creating and safely storing password-protected backups of your identity and group ledgers.
- Peerloom Labs cannot recover lost private keys, reset lost backup passwords, or reconstruct lost local databases.
5. Disclaimer of Warranties
The App and Website are provided on an "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" basis, without warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, or uninterrupted relay connectivity.
6. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, in no event shall Peerloom Labs, its developers, or contributors be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages resulting from your use of or inability to use the App, network relay partitions, or third-party payment handoffs.
